Leo's Background Leontes is the youngest of three boys. His older brothers were both adventurous, Gryffindor personalities, but Leo took after his parents and was every bit the Ravenclaw. When he graduated from Hogwarts, he became co-owner of Tippens Books in London. He worked there for many years until April of 1996 when his brothers convinced him to leave London and get out to experience some of the world. This inevitably brought him back to the book business, this time in Hogsmeade. Now, he works for Madame Yfandia at the Treasured Tome and has fallen in love with the small town that is so different from the craziness of London. Within a few months of arriving in Hogsmeade, Leo became attracted to Theresa Postlethwaite, the postmistress. Their relationship remained a mystery to the many gossipers in Hogsmeade for a long time before it became rather apparent that there was definitely something between Leo and Theresa. However, that relationship remained stormy, to say the least, and in the end it was not to last. In February of 1997, Leo and Theresa broke up for the last time, hopefully to remain friends. Theresa became attached to Remus Lupin, an old flame of her own, and Leo soon found his friendship with Jeanette Fraser, the jeweler, growing into something more. It wasn't until late spring that Jeanette and Leo admitted their emotions for each other, but much has happened since. In July, Jeanette was attacked by Death Eaters and her house was burnt to the ground. Since then, she has remained with Leo and while they have not yet agreed to marry, it is something on both minds, as their close friends and family will attest. In addition to Theresa and Jeanette, there is one other important lady in Leo's life, while it may seem odd to those who do not understand. Leontes' niece, Jezzie, is 8 years old and, is always the light in his life. Only a select few know the secret behind the bond between uncle and niece. In fact, Jezzie did not even understand until she came to visit Leo in London in the late fall and winter of 1996. Age 7 at the time, it's still a question how much she really understands. In general, Leontes is a very kind gentleman with a very good heart. He is a typical Ravenclaw with his hunger for books and his thirst for knowledge, but he also recognizes people as a source of knowledge and, as such, enjoys being around others. He makes friends easily, when he has the chance, but the life of the bookworm is a delicate balance between hermit and social butterfly and even Leontes struggles to keep the balance at times. Leo has recently begun a project called the Free Press. It is a literary journal that works subversively to the Ministry of Magic, to the prime goal of keeping the literary world free from oppression. While Leo has not yet gotten into trouble for this journal, he still works carefully to keep it underground and away from Ministry suspicion, though it is unsure how long that will last.
